EU Parliament votes send mixed signals on packaging circularity

In the last plenary session before the EU elections, MEPs cast their vote on key circular economy files, including the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) and a motion for a resolution objecting the Commission’s proposed method for calculating recycled content in the Single-Use Plastics Directive. EuRIC praises the validation of the packaging rules, marking a significant step towards enhancing packaging circularity, but is deeply alarmed by the Parliament’s intransigence on a biased mass balance approach.
